Belew is known for his impressionistic guitar playing approach, resembling sound effects and various noises rather than relying on standard instrumental tones. He is widely recognized for his incredibly versatile guitar playing skills and has released nearly 20 solo albums over the course of his career. Belew has worked extensively as a touring musician with several legendary artists, including the likes of David Bowie, Talking Heads, Frank Zappa, Laurie Anderson, and Nine Inch Nails, while also contributing to hit singles by Paul Simon, Tom Tom Club, and many others.
